Global developer Hines sought to provide a new level of luxurious living and lifestyle amenities in its new Calgary apartment tower as well as ample communal activity at its new 40-floor luxury Two Park Central high-rise in downtown Calgary.

The company offers numerous resident events and classes ranging from yoga to beer tasting on site.

Hines, based in Houston, opened the doors in August to the building with 531-apartments near the One Park Central tower it completed in 2020.

Hines took the task of providing amenities in its 406,000-square-foot Two Park Central tower seriously. The final product includes a rooftop pool with dining area, sky lounge and views of the Rocky Mountains, a gym, game room, golf simulator, dog run, coworking spaces and electric vehicle charging stations.

The project has earned the 2025 CoStar Impact Award for multifamily development of the year for Calgary, as judged by a panel of Calgary real estate professionals familiar with the market.

About the project: The developer invested $3 million in art to display throughout the building, including works by Canadian artists Ron Moppett and Katie Ohe at the tower.

What the judges said: "Phase two of this multifamily development completes the project complementing the initial One Park Central, the entire project is notable for its high density and quality build in the heart of the beltline," said Victor Shiu, senior associate, asset management, Manulife Investment Management.

"The expansion of a highly regarded first tower brings new investment to Calgary’s downtown. This development enhances the local community through an artist program and introduces a unique architectural addition to the city's skyline. With ambitious amenity spaces, it further elevates the vibrancy and appeal of the area," said Gabriel Millard, managing partner, equity capital markets, Avenue Living.

"Two Park Central brought much-needed, thoughtfully designed housing and vibrancy to Calgary’s downtown core, enhancing the city's livability, walkability and overall appeal of the downtown rental market while contributing to the revitalization of the area," said Chantel Tremblay, real estate program lead at the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business, Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies.

They made it happen: The development team included Avi Tesciuba, senior managing director, co-country head for Hines in Canada; Jamily Fyith, senior construction manager, Hines; Nolan Sit, principal and design architect for Solomon Cordwell Buenz, Vince Dods, production architect and partner for GGA Architecture; Wini Leung Gillin, director of property management, and Oliver Vikalo director both with Hines.
