Developer Muse has strengthened its senior leadership team by appointing Simon Harding-Roots as managing director in its South office.
Harding-Roots will lead Muse’s southern business, "driving growth and expanding partnerships to deliver sustainable regeneration".
He joins from The Crown Estate where he was managing director for London, overseeing a 10 million-square-foot, £8 billion portfolio, including a £2.5 billion programme of major projects.
The recruit was also executive director of major projects at Grosvenor Group and held senior roles at Imperial College London and with the Treasury Holdings Group.
Harding-Roots, who will join Muse at the end of the month, will work with public and private sector partners to bring forward a pipeline of mixed-use regeneration projects, working with Muse’s national partnerships, ECF and Habiko.
ECF, the placemaking partnership between Muse, Legal & General and Homes England, doubled in size to £400 million last year, while Habiko, a joint venture between Pension Insurance Corporation, Muse and Homes England, was established in the same year. Its aim is to deliver 3,000 affordable, low carbon homes over the next 10-12 years.
Muse is leading the delivery of Manor Road Quarter in Canning Town, London, which on completion will provide more than 800 new homes, 50% of which will be affordable, alongside high-quality public spaces and commercial opportunities.
Phil Mayall, managing director at Muse, said in a statement: "Simon joins us with significant experience delivering complex and impactful regeneration. His pedigree, working across London and the South, will help drive our growth in the region and support established and emerging delivery partnerships.
"We also see ECF and Habiko playing an important role across London and the South. Simon is well placed to enable the expansion these critical national partnerships, creating high-quality new places which deliver the homes, retail, and public spaces communities deserve."
