Seattle's Job Market Remains Tight, Despite August Losses

Market Stat: Preliminary Numbers Report Around 1,700 Jobs Shed

Seattle's job market is maintaining its strength, despite job losses in August. Year-over-year gains are still around 3.1%, following a strong July performance, with annual job growth exceeding 3% for the first time this year. But preliminary numbers for total nonfarm employment growth for August reveal that greater Seattle lost roughly 1,700 jobs for the month, down from about 5,800 jobs added in July.
