Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua is set to buy 73 New Bond Street, a mixed-use block that includes the Bonds Mayfair bar in London from Aviva for around £25 million, CoStar News can reveal.

Fresh from beating Jermaine Franklin at the weekend in the ring, AJ, advised by Michael Elliott, is likely to win another contest for a block that includes offices and retail fronting New Bond Street in the heart of London's West End, alongside an interlinking building that includes Bonds Mayfair and a dentist on Dering Street.

73 New Bond Street is a mid-terraced building with retail at ground-floor and basement level and office on the upper floors. It is located on the north-east side of New Bond Street close to its junction with Dering Street and close to the new Elizabeth line station at Bond Street.

It is thought that the boxer, who is reportedly worth significantly in excess of the £115 million attributed to him by the Sunday Times Rich list in 2020, is looking to buy prime property for purely investment purposes, although he has a range of business interests in related areas such as retail, where he is a leading sponsor of brands including Hugo Boss and Beats, and the gym business BXR.

Watford-born English professional boxer Anthony Joshua, 33, is a two-time former unified world heavyweight champion, having held the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles twice between 2016 and 2021. He also held the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles from 2015 to 2016.

Joshua beat Jermaine Franklin over 12 rounds following a unanimous points decision at The O2 in London on Saturday night (1 April), and immediately called on WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to think about a future fight.

CBRE is advising Aviva on the sale. Michael Elliott advises Joshua.
