In January 2010, in front of a crowded audience in the ballroom of the newly-constructed Grand Hyatt on Market Street, then-San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro delivered a speech that would forever be remembered by the name "Decade of Downtown." In the late 2000s, attention started to shift toward the urban core of Texas' oldest municipality, and the city became interested in incentivizing jobs, investment and, of course, real estate development downtown.
