Newmark Promotes Hogue, Anderson to Senior Managing Director in Texas
Taucha Hogue, a member of Newmark's self-storage capital markets group in Houston, and Sarah Anderson, part of Newmark's Dallas-based seniors housing and care platform, have both been promoted to senior managing director.
Hogue specializes in representing self-storage clients with strategic planning and property optimization through dispositions, acquisitions, refinancing and debt and equity placement.
Throughout her career, Hogue has been directly involved in transactions and advisory assignments totaling more than $5.5 billion, including the nearly $1.23 billion Simply Self Storage portfolio sale in 2020.
Anderson joined the firm's seniors housing and care platform in 2019 and is responsible for related debt origination and structured finance throughout the United States.
With more than 11 years of commercial real estate experience, Anderson has been involved in real estate equity and financings totaling more than $7 billion for major institutional and private owners throughout the country, including KKR, Harrison Street, AEW and PGIM.
Tower Capital Promotes Basa to New Leadership Role
Scottsdale, Arizona-based commercial real estate finance company Tower Capital has promoted Vin Basa to senior vice president.
Basa will continue to focus on loan originations as well as debt and equity placements across the multifamily, single-family, hospitality and build-to-rent residential markets. Tower Capital reports it closed $750 million in commercial real estate financing transactions in 2021.
Most recently a vice president with the firm, Basa joined Tower Capital in 2018. He previously worked for four years as a top-producing capital adviser at JRE Capital, where he was directly involved in the placement of more than $100 million in senior loans and analyzed more than $500 million in construction, bridge and permanent structured finance primarily in the Phoenix market. Before that, Basa worked at Trinan, One Touch Homes and ADT, and was a professional race car driver.
Foundry Hires Vice President of Office Leasing
Foundry Commercial, a full-service real estate services firm with offices across the Sun Belt, has hired Lindsay Wolcott Brown as vice president of office agency leasing in Dallas.
In her new role, Wolcott Brown will continue to focus on leasing office properties throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, working with Foundry Principals Matt Hurlbut and Dale Rey.
Wolcott Brown brings more than 16 years of commercial real estate industry experience, most recently as part of the agency leasing team at Avison Young, where she oversaw a portfolio of roughly 3.5 million square feet. Before that, Wolcott Brown worked in agency leasing and new business development for Colliers' North Texas region, and in 2010 she joined Prescott Group in Dallas. Wolcott Brown began her real estate career managing, selling and leasing a variety of historic properties in South Carolina.
Ware Malcomb Hires Takata as Architecture Studio Manager
International design firm Ware Malcomb has hired Rei Takata as architecture studio manager in the firm's Washington, D.C., office.
In his new role, Takata will help lead the studio and manage select projects in the region, while looking to grow the firm's multifamily portfolio locally.
A registered architect in the state of Maryland, Takata has over 20 years of project experience in the multifamily, adaptive reuse and higher education sectors, and has led multimillion-dollar commercial real estate development projects from schematic design to construction administration.
CBRE Investment Management Names Head of Americas Research
Shane Taylor has been appointed head of Americas research for CBRE Investment Management.
Taylor, who also serves as head of research for the firm's Asia Pacific region, will hold dual leadership roles for both regions. He will relocate to New York after spending the past 12 years based in Hong Kong, where he helped build and manage CBRE Investment Management’s APAC research team while providing transaction support and advisory services to global capital sources targeting the region for investment.
Before joining CBRE Investment Management in 2006, Taylor spent three years as a researcher with the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute in Brisbane before joining RP Data-Marketshare, a real estate consultancy group based in Sydney.
Ashford Announces Planned Departure of Executive
Ashford said this week that Jeremy Welter, its president and chief operating officer, will be leaving the company, effective July 15.
In addition, Welter’s position as chief operating officer of Ashford Hospitality Trust and Braemar Hotels & Resorts will also end on that date. Ashford is an alternative asset management company that provides global asset management, investment management and related services to the real estate and hospitality sectors.

"We have a deep bench of talented executives across our organization, and I believe we are well-positioned to continue to capitalize on the recovery we are seeing in our industry."
