The greater Houston area added 69,094 new residents between July 2020 and July 2021, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's recently released population estimates for 2021. The revisions expanded the region's population from 7.14 million to 7.21 million. Only Dallas and Phoenix bested these numbers.
