Bank of Cyprus confirms €2.8bn NPL sale to Apollo

Bank of Cyprus, the largest bank in Cyprus, has confirmed it is selling its Project Helix portfolio of non-performing real estate loans to Apollo Global Management for €1.40bn.

The lender said the sale is its first disposal as it works through its balance sheet of non-performing loans. The loan portfolio has a gross book value of 2.80bn and a contractual balance of 5.70bn.
