Despite boost in employment, six of 10 job sectors shrank over the past year

The Memphis, Tennessee, labor market showed signs of expansion for the first time in 15 months, adding 3,100 jobs in October compared to last year, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics data. This increase of 0.5% was the largest gain since April 2023.
