The number of pharmacies that Rite Aid plans to close has swelled to 367 in the past few weeks, according to an analysis by Retail Specialists, a commercial real estate firm.

The Philadelphia-based drugstore chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October, citing heavy debt and burdened by litigation related to filling prescriptions for opioids. At that time, the retailer said it had more than 2,100 retail pharmacy locations across 17 states and planned to shed some stores.

Since the fall, in court documents Rite Aid has announced several rounds of store closings. A&G Real Estate Partners, Rite Aid's real estate adviser, has been marketing and selling some of the retailer's leases and owned locations.

The company's website most recently said it has 1,690 stores.

On April 16, Rite Aid added another 13 stores to its roster of locations to be closed, bringing the total to 367, according to Retail Specialists. Those additions included six in Pennsylvania, three in Ohio, two in New Jersey, and one each in New York and Virginia.
