Cushman & Wakefield Names Director of Brokerage in Nevada

Venessa McEvoy has been appointed to the role of director of brokerage for Nevada at global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield. She is based in the firm's Las Vegas office.

In her new role, McEvoy will support the brokerage firm's business operations across the state, overseeing offices in Las Vegas and Reno while handling business development, broker training, strategic planning, recruiting, and working directly with service providers and clients. She reports directly to Christina Roush, Cushman & Wakefield’s managing principal for Nevada and San Diego.

McEvoy brings years of experience in brokerage leadership. She joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2019, most recently serving as the firm's Nevada operations director, where she partnered with fee earners and support staff to develop revenue growth strategies and increase market share across the region.

"At Cushman & Wakefield, Venessa has shared a vision and partnered with me in crafting the Nevada market's tremendous success," Roush said in a corporate statement announcing the move. "She has excelled in leadership roles throughout her career and possesses a deep knowledge of Nevada and of our industry."

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, McEvoy served as director of marketing for various national consumer and business-to-business brands, leading national expansion initiatives and new product development. She also worked with real estate developer Harsch Investment Properties, where she helped create operational models and strategic objectives still in use there over a decade later.

McEvoy, a lifelong Nevadan, graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a bachelors of business administration degree in strategic marketing.

DiamondRock Appoints New Executive VP, COO

Justin Leonard

DiamondRock Hospitality has named Justin Leonard as executive vice president and chief operating officer effective July 18.

Leonard will assume leadership responsibility of asset management and serve on the real estate investment trust’s executive committee, reporting directly to President and CEO Mark W. Brugger.

Prior to joining DiamondRock, Leonard worked for Walton Street Capital for 20 years, most recently as a senior principal. At Walton Street Capital, he was responsible for the oversight and asset management of the firm’s hotel investments since 2007. During his tenure at Walton Street Capital, he directed the asset management of 60 branded and independent hotels totaling over 20,000 rooms.

Real Estate Partner Joins Hogan Lovells

Global law firm Hogan Lovells has hired Jessica Millett as a partner with the firm's corporate and finance practice group in its New York City office. An experienced tax lawyer, Millett is the sixth partner to join the group so far this year.

In her new role, Millett will continue to focus on U.S. tax issues arising from complex real estate transactions, private equity and joint-venture investments, refinancing arrangements, real estate investment trusts, qualified opportunity fund structures and cross-border real estate investments.

Millett most recently served as chair of the tax practice at boutique real estate law firm Duval & Stachenfeld in New York. She earned her law degree from Duke University School of Law and her bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins. Millett is currently chair of the subcommittee for foreign investors of the ABA Tax Section Real Estate Committee.

Concord Taps Landman as Chief Investment Officer

Samuel Landman has joined Concord Capital Partners as its new chief investment officer.

In his new role, Landman will lead the firm’s corporate equity and debt strategies, focusing primarily on investor relations, partnerships and joint venture structuring. Landman’s hire is part of founder and CEO Reuben Robin’s decision to refocus Concord’s investment strategy on Southern California. The firm had previously focused on purchasing institutional-sized apartments out of state, primarily Texas.

Landman joins Concord from WealthStone, where he served as vice president of capital markets. He was responsible for sourcing and arranging equity capital and debt financing for a variety of joint ventures and partnerships across the firm’s portfolio. Before that, he was a senior executive at Los Angeles-based Universe Holdings, a multifamily investment and management firm that owns and manages a portfolio $1.5 billion AUM throughout Southern California and key East Coast markets.

Weil Named VP for New Multifamily Management Firm

CloudTen Residential, a newly formed Nevada-based firm that manages and operates apartments throughout the western United States, has named Jessica Weil as regional vice president.

In her new role, Weil will be responsible for supervising multiple employees and a range of multifamily properties throughout the Nevada region, according to CloudTen President Melissa Deen.

Weil most recently was a regional property manager for Cushman & Wakefield’s Las Vegas offices, overseeing a portfolio of 5,488 apartment units and spearheading the day-to-day operations and profitability of numerous multifamily properties. She was also a regional property manager for Greystar Real Estate Partners, supervising 35 employees and overseeing 1,500 units. She has also worked for Dasmen Residential, Pinnacle Property Management and Fairfield Residential.

Ware Malcomb Promotes Adams to Director, Architecture

International design firm Ware Malcomb has promoted Cory Adams to director of architecture in the firm’s office in Irvine, California.

In this role, Adams will lead the architecture and advanced manufacturing studios for the Irvine and Inland Empire offices.

Adams has more than 14 years of architectural experience and more than 11 years of construction experience. He joined Ware Malcomb in 2019 and was promoted to studio manager, architecture in 2021. Adams has also helped triple the size of the advanced manufacturing team and expand the office's portfolio of multifamily projects.

Ackerberg Hires New Controller

Julie Henry has joined real estate investment firm The Ackerberg Group as controller.

Henry will be primarily responsible for the financial and related investor reporting associated with Ackerberg’s funds, corporate entities and property entities under the management of the firm. She will also oversee day-to-day fiscal operations, maintaining accounting relationships with external management, tax, audit and other third parties, and working closely with senior Ackerberg leadership in all finance and accounting related activities.

Prior to joining Ackerberg, Henry spent seven years as the senior director of accounting and business systems for Bigos Management in Golden Valley, Minnesota, leading the accounting, IT and capital improvements teams. She also worked for CSM Corp. as accounting manager, assistant controller and ultimately controller. Henry also was the owner and chief financial officer of Westview Packaging for 11 years.

Office Leasing Specialist Joins CBRE

Chuck Reiter

CBRE’s San Diego office has hired Chuck Reiter as a senior vice president.

Reiter will partner with Ryan Grant and Jeff Oesterblad to lease Class A office buildings downtown and in other high-profile San Diego neighborhoods on behalf of investors and landlords.

He brings more than 16 years of multitenant office leasing experience to CBRE. Reiter previously served as a leasing director for Irvine Company Office Properties, where he was responsible for leasing and marketing strategies for the company’s 32 million square feet of office properties in Orange County. He began his commercial real estate career in 2004 with Irvine, managing projects for the company’s Orange County and San Diego office portfolios.
