Real estate investor KBS and Transwestern Real Estate Services have come together for the ninth year in a fundraising effort that honors fallen U.S. soldiers.

The real estate firms ran the annual fundraising campaign in November and collected donations from tenants and employees at 10 KBS-owned properties where Transwestern provides property management services. The total proceeds went to Wreaths Across America, a group that honors fallen U.S. soldiers by organizing wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C., and more than 4,600 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad, KBS and Transwestern said.

With each $17 donation sponsoring one wreath, this year’s fundraising enabled the purchase of 2,937, the partners said.

On this year's National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 14, volunteers from Transwestern and KBS, among thousands of others, gathered at Arlington National Cemetery and other sites across the country to place live balsam wreaths on veterans' headstones, the partners said.

The efforts "enable us to honor our fallen U.S. veterans, recognize those who serve today, and educate future generations about the value of freedom,” said Marc DeLuca, CEO and regional president of the eastern United States region for KBS.
