For CIM Group's A.J. Canada, participating in the recent Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago was personal.
Canada and 10 employees from CIM and OFS Capital joined about 7,000 others in the three-mile walk in The Museum Campus along Lake Michigan on a balmy early October day to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society and breast cancer research. Inside CIM, the effort was led by the CIM Women's Alliance that Canada co-founded.
“My friend Tracy, who is currently battling triple negative breast cancer, was on our team and it was a wonderful way to celebrate her completing her last round of chemo the week before," Canada said in an email. "It was a very memorable experience and we are thankful to have raised over $2,100 for the American Cancer Society."
A group of CIM employees also participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday at Atlantic Station in Atlanta. Brigitte Broyard, who works for CIM's Centennial Yards Co. and also is a co-founder of CIM Women’s Alliance, captained the Atlanta team. Canada served as the captain of the CIM Chicago team.
CIM Women's Alliance also plans to take part in the fundraising cancer walks later this month in New York, the Phoenix area and in Los Angeles, she said.
