Brookfield Properties, a subsidiary of global investment firm Brookfield Asset Management, is embarking on what's expected to be an overhaul that runs into the hundreds of millions of dollars at 666 Fifth Ave. in New York City, the iconic 41-story Plaza District tower that appeared to be tied to more than $1.2 billion in debt for Kushner Cos.
