Inland Empire Seeing Double-Digit Apartment Rent Growth

Limited Supply Won’t Alleviate the Housing Shortage

Asking rents for one-bedroom units in the Inland Empire apartment market grew by 11.5% year over year in the first quarter of 2021, the highest rate of growth in over 20 years. While affordability concerns are growing locally, property managers are seeing ample demand from households moving from coastal markets, where average rents are 15% to 22% higher.
