Stable consumer spending in Alberta expands provincial lead in per capita purchases

Retail spending in Alberta increased in the second quarter by 1.4% from the previous quarter and 0.6% over the same quarter last year. Other major provinces, with the exception of Quebec, have seen flat or declining spending as past interest rate hikes continue to eat into disposable income.
