Two hotels in Houston’s West University area have changed hands.

Kentucky-based Commonwealth Hotels announced it acquired Residence Inn Houston – West University and Courtyard by Marriott Houston – West University. The hotels are adjacent to each other and located near Greenway Plaza and Rice University.

“It's an exciting time to enter the Houston market and we are excited to add these additional hotels to the Commonwealth portfolio," Commonwealth Hotels COO Jennifer Porter said in a statement. “We believe with our rapidly growing talent and dedicated on-property staffs that these hotels will deliver provide a positive experience for every guest.”

Commonwealth Hotels did not disclose the sellers or financial details of the deals. Commonwealth Hotels' portfolio features 51 hotel properties and 6,000 rooms.

Residence Inn Houston – West University is located at 2939 Westpark Drive and features 120 rooms. The hotel opened in May 2004 and was renovated in 2015, according to CoStar data.

The 100-room Courtyard by Marriott Houston – West University is at 2929 Westpark Drive. Courtyard by Marriott Houston – West University was built in 2004 and renovated in 2011.
