CBRE targets Southern California logistics deals with new hire

Brian Russell joined CBRE as an executive vice president. In his new role, Russell will serve on the firm’s national partners industrial and logistics capital markets team in the Irvine, California, office, the firm said. Russell joined CBRE from Eastdil Secured, where he most recently led that firm’s Southern California life science team as managing director.

During Russell’s 13-year commercial real estate career, he has executed more than $20 billion in industrial, office, life science, multifamily, land and mixed-use transactions. Prior to his real estate work, he played for nine seasons in the NFL, for the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans. 

Gencom looks to boost Caribbean investments

Global investment firm Gencom hired Margaux Mielcarek as senior vice president of development for Bermuda and the Caribbean as it expands its hospitality and residential portfolio in the region, the Miami-based company said. Mielcarek’s career has included leading multifamily and mixed-use development projects totaling 1,200 rental units in the Miami area and advising on hotel transactions across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prior to Gencom, Mielcarek held senior positions at development firm Fortis Design + Build and JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality group. She also previously worked in product marketing, acquisitions and development at resort operator Club Med. Gencom owns, operates and develops hotels, resorts and branded residential properties, with $8 billion in assets under management. 

Walker & Dunlop expands data center team

Walker & Dunlop hired Andrew Kaskel as senior managing director to lead its digital infrastructure advisory services group. The Bethesda, Maryland-based company said Kaskel will work in its New York City office building and partner with its institutional capital markets team to finance developments, data centers and related facilities nationwide.

Kaskel joined Walker & Dunlop after serving as managing director at DH Capital, now part of Citizens Bank, where he advised digital infrastructure companies and investors. His career includes the completion of more than 50 data center financings with a total value of more than $15 billion.

Newmark broadens Los Angeles valuation services

Newmark added Andrew Power and Sean Crosby to its valuation and advisory leadership team in Southern California. Both were hired as managing directors and executive vice presidents in the Los Angeles office, the brokerage said.

Power and Crosby each have more than 30 years of experience in appraisals and consulting. They previously worked at CBRE.

Power specializes in the appraisal of office properties and has experience working with general and high-end medical office facilities. Crosby specializes in appraising retail properties and has experience in other property types including industrial, office and apartments.

Bridge Industrial grows West Coast holdings

Logistics-focused real estate company Bridge Industrial promoted Kevin Finnegan to the role of market officer in Los Angeles as the firm said it is expanding its investments and developments in California. Finnegan. who joined Bridge in 2017 from Wells Fargo, previously held the role of vice president of investments at Bridge.

Finnegan’s work at Bridge has focused on developments and acquisitions across Southern California. "Under his leadership, we’ve successfully expanded our presence across key regions in California, including Los Angeles County, Inland Empire, and Orange County," Bridge said.
