No crystal ball is going to reveal the future — just ask any revenue manager — but the Hotel News Now team took a crack at it anyway back in early 2020.

Emphasis on early.

As part of a special report looking ahead at what may be in store for the hotel industry in the then-far distant future of 2025, HNN produced a video in which its team members made their own predictions for hoteliers. That video can be found here.

Now, five years later, it's time to see how close to the mark everyone was.

In the latest podcast from HNN, Editorial Director Stephanie Ricca, News Editor Sean McCracken and Senior Reporter Bryan Wroten discuss those predictions made in January 2020 and see what they got right, what they got wrong and what was actually pretty close.

To hear what they had to say about alternative accommodations, immersive guest experiences, the role of artificial intelligence, Google as a booking platform and more, listen to the podcast embedded above.
