Department store J.C. Penney is seeking to push an upcoming deadline to later this year to get more time to negotiate more than 150 leases to achieve "substantial and critical savings" and try to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings as retailers enter uncharted territory in the pandemic.
