The David Whitney Building, a historic office tower in downtown Detroit that was redeveloped into a boutique hotel with apartments in 2014, is set to be renovated and rebranded as an Autograph Collection hotel in a move that will introduce a new upper-upscale hotel to the market and represents a contrarian play to other cities where hotel rooms are being converted to apartments to capitalize on the increased demand for housing.
