Benteler Automotive officially opened the doors of a new, state-of-the-art technology center at its North American headquarters located at 1780 Pond Run in Auburn Hills, MI on March 6. The 77,950-square-foot flex facility is divided equally into office and research and development testing space, and is the North American headquarters for Benteler Automotive. The company relocated its headquarters to Auburn Hills in August 2001, from Grand Rapids, MI. In addition to this new facility, Benteler operates technology centers in Germany and The Netherlands. Benteler's automotive business supplies automotive components, modules and systems to a global customer base. Its product lines include chassis components and modules, safety and structural products; exhaust systems, and tubular components and systems. Headquartered in Paderborn, Germany, the company is one of four business units owned by Benteler AG: Automotive, Steel/Tube, Mechanical Engineering, and Trade. Benteler AG, with sales of $2.9 billion, operates 40 manufacturing facilities in 13 countries and employs more than 17,500 people. The lease for North American headquarters for Benteler Automotive was signed in March 2001.
