Colliers boosts Tri-State capital markets team

Thomas Walsh (Colliers)

Joseph Garibaldi IV and Thomas Walsh joined Colliers’ capital markets team in Parsippany, New Jersey, as vice chairs. The brokerage is fortifying its investment sales practice in the Tri-State area, which also includes New York and Connecticut.

Garibaldi and Walsh both served most recently as managing directors at Walker & Dunlop, where they launched that firm’s investment sales services in the Tri-State region and completed about $15 billion in transactions.

The pair have closed several notable deals, including Calamar's $502 million sale of its senior living portfolio, the $325 million sale of the Gateway office portfolio and the $130 million sale of the James luxury apartment project in Park Ridge, New Jersey. Garibaldi and Walsh also previously led JLL’s investment sales team in the Tri-State region.

Berkadia expands California investment services

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Berkadia)

Berkadia added Ryan Fitzpatrick as a senior managing director, broadening its team of investment sales advisers in Irvine, California. The brokerage said the Irvine office also added Chelsea Jervis and CJ Angle as managing directors. All three of the new hires will report to Mike Miner, senior vice president and co-head of investment sales and production operations, Berkadia said. They will aid Berkadia in serving a growing pool of multifamily investors “eager to own in the Southern California market,” Miner said in a statement.

The three brokers have more than 35 years of combined experience. At Berkadia, they will primarily be responsible for institutional investment advisory, the brokerage said. Prior to joining Berkadia, all three worked in the Orange County office of JLL capital markets.

SRS strengthens owner-focused Florida leadership

Chris Stewart joined SRS Real Estate Partners as a senior vice president in Tampa, Florida, where the brokerage said he will handle owner-focused services.

Stewart has 20 years of experience working with real estate investment trusts and institutional investors. He most recently worked as executive vice president of PEBB Enterprises, where he oversaw leasing for a three million-square-foot portfolio of retail and office space. Florida is a “top priority” for expansion, SRS President Garrett Colburn said in a statement from the Dallas-based brokerage.

Multifamily executive rejoins Michigan brokerage

Amy Young, who has more than 30 years of experience in multifamily operations, rejoined Friedman Real Estate as managing director. Prior to rejoining the Farmington Hills, Michigan-based firm, Young managed a portfolio of about 11,000 apartments across seven states. Her previous roles at Friedman included senior director of asset management, vice president of property management and director of operations for sponsors, third-party management and owner-operated client firms.

Friedman said it is among the nation’s largest privately held commercial real estate service providers, managing more than 200 commercial properties including more than 12,500 apartment units nationwide. The company has more than $22 billion in closed brokerage transactions and over 600 current listings.
