Amsterdam-based hotel firm PPHE Hotel Group has joined the Financial Times Stock Exchange European Real Estate Association National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts Global Real Estate Index Series.
According to the European Real Estate Association, the “index series is designed to reflect the stock performance of companies engaged in specific aspects of the major real estate markets and regions of the world — Americas; Europe, Middle East and Africa; and Asia.”
PPHE will begin trading on its new benchmarking index on Dec. 23.
PPHE is both a hotel operator and an owner. It holds the master development and operations franchise for Radisson Hotel Group’s Park Plaza brand, and it also has in-house brands such as Art’otel and Arena Hotels & Apartments.
Its division Arena Hospitality Group, which owns Arena Hotels & Apartments and Arena Campsites, is listed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange in the Croatian capital.
The company's operational portfolio includes 51 hotels in eight countries, including nearly 9,600 rooms, as well as eight campsites with 6,000 camp pitches and mobile homes.
A news release from PPHE said the FTSE EPRA Nareit index “track[s] the performance of listed real estate companies and real estate investment trusts worldwide, to promote, develop and represent the European public real estate sector.”
Daniel Kos, PPHE’s chief financial officer, said the move provides the firm with a much stronger platform in which to expand its portfolio, “enhancing our visibility, liquidity and profile in the capital markets and enabling us to reach a broader pool of institutional investors.”
In its latest earnings report from Oct. 31, PPHE reported third-quarter hotel occupancy of 81.5% and revenue per available room of £139.80 ($178.06), an increase of 2.3% year over year. Average daily rate across the same period fell 2.7% to £171.80.
Recently, PPHE opened the 133-room Radisson Red Berlin Kudamm, the first for that brand in the German capital.
The company also received planning permission to build a 186-room hotel in London, on Westminster Bridge Road opposite Lambeth North Station. It bought the site, in the Waterloo district of London, for £12 million in 2019.
