The owners of the popular New York restaurant and bar Flatiron Room are planning to open the concept's first location outside of the Big Apple in Miami.

Longtime Miami developer Melo Group said the Flatiron Room will open next year at the Aria Reserve condominium project that's under construction in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood.

The Flatiron Room, originally founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Tommy Tardie, currently has two locations in New York City. The Flatiron Room at Aria Reserve at 700 NE 24th St. will be the concept's third location. Miami's Flatiron Room will be waterfront, featuring 6,000 square feet across two floors, including outdoor seating and 18-foot glass windows, Tardie said in a LinkedIn post.

Aria Reserve will be the latest South Florida property to feature a New York restaurant. Multiple restaurants that found their start in New York have been opening second and third locations across South Florida as wealthy individuals and their families relocate to the region from the northeast. Pastis plans to open at West Palm Beach’s Nora District in 2026, marking the second location in South Florida for the famous New York bistro.

Miami's Flatiron Room will be the latest addition to a rapidly changing neighborhood. Edgewater, less than two miles north of the city’s downtown and arts and entertainment districts, has seen a swathe of new development over the past few years as developers look for cheaper alternatives to the increasingly built-out downtown and Brickell areas farther south.

In addition to Aria Reserve, projects under various stages of development in Edgewater and surrounding areas include Oak Row Equities’ 2600 Biscayne, a mixed-use rental and office project; 1000 Group’s Villa Residences and office project called Tower 36; PTM Partners' recently completed 2000 Biscayne; and Crescent Heights’ Forma Miami that will bring a new Whole Foods to the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, Aria Reserve, designed by locally based firm Arquitectonica, is expected to open sometime in 2025. Units at the 383-unit condo are almost sold out, with the South Tower 95% sold and the North Tower 85% sold.

Units range from 1,100 square feet for a one-bedroom to 3,030 square feet for a four-bedroom residence. Penthouse units span from 3,500 square feet to 9,000 square feet. Prices run from $1.1 million to over $4 million.

When completed, residents can enjoy amenities that include 550 linear feet of waterfront views of Biscayne Bay, a water sports marina, solarium, café, whirlpool spa, a meditation garden, sky lobby, wine cellar and multiple pools.

For the record

John Parsiani, vice president of sales at Aria Reserve, represented Flatiron Room and Melo Group in the lease, according to a statement from Melo Group.
