Barnes & Noble nears store openings in Chicago and Washington, D.C., as part of ongoing expansion

Bookseller’s new leases include returns to long-ago spaces or proximity to former locations

Barnes & Noble plans store openings in a century-old building on Chicago’s North Side and in a Washington, D.C., building where it closed a bookstore in 2011, adding two big, multilevel spaces to the chain’s aggressive expansion following years of cutbacks.
