Landsec has hired Savills' director of investment for Glasgow, Stuart Orr, as senior development manager to help with the redevelopment of Glasgow's Buchanan Galleries.

Orr, who joined Savills' UK investment team in 2015, announced via a LinkedIn post that he would be joining the UK real estate investment trust to play a part in delivering the circa £1 billion redevelopment of the city's popular shopping centre.

The plans aim to repurpose the Galleries into a mixed-use destination, housing offices, shops and restaurants, as well as adding green and public spaces. The project is at the consultation stage.

During his time at Savills, Orr worked on the acquisition and disposal of commercial property assets across all sectors in Scotland and in development funding. He has experience in offices, retail, shopping centres, hotels, industrials, science parks and data centres.

Orr said in a LinkedIn post: "And just like that, my time at Savills in Glasgow has drawn to a close. I am eternally grateful for the knowledge, opportunities, experiences and friendships made during my time there.

"Savills is a tremendous business full of great people at the top of their game and I look forward to continuing my working relationships with them in my new role."

According to his LinkedIn profile, Orr has more than 25 years experience in the commercial real estate market and has worked on the client and advisory side.

Orr has also worked for FG Burnett, DTZ and CBRE UK, and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In 2021, Orr led the Savills team behind Garroch Investments' acquisition of Princes House in Glasgow ahead of a £75 million offices redevelopment.
