Hotel management firm Oberoi Group has signed a deal with Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries to manage three properties, one of which is yet to open, according to a news release from the Mumbai-based firm.

One of those properties, Stoke Park, will be its first European property.

That hotel is in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, England, close to Windsor and just outside of London.

Oberoi, based in New Delhi, has 12 hotels in India, under its Oberoi Hotels & Resorts’ umbrella. It also has an additional 11 properties within that division that either do not bear the Oberoi name or are outside of the country. The parent company also manages 10 hotels under the Trident Hotels brand, all in India, and has an aviation division.

Stoke Park was bought by Reliance in 2021, and since then has been closed for renovations. It is due to reopen later this year.

The sale price was £57 million ($72.2 million) or approximately £1.2 million per room, according to data from CoStar, Hotel News Now’s parent company.

The luxury property, which first opened as a hotel in 1908 and had 49 rooms before its renovation, also features a restaurant, spa and sporting facilities, including a renowned golf course.

Stoke Park has featured in several blockbuster movies, including “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and two of the James Bond thrillers, “Goldfinger” and “Tomorrow Never Dies.”

The other existing property in the deal is the Anant Vilas, which Oberoi said is its “first metro-centric property as part of the iconic luxury ‘Vilas’ portfolio.” It is in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex business district.

The third hotel included in the deal is also in India, an as-yet-unnamed hotel in Gujarat.

Reliance is India’s largest private sector firm, with consolidated revenue of $118.6 billion and cash profit of $15.3 billion, according to its latest earnings report for the year as of March 31.

Oberoi has an loyalty partnership agreement with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
