Vacation ownership company Marriott Vacations Worldwide has struck a $430 million deal to buy Welk Resorts, a hospitality and vacation timeshare company started in 1984 by the late TV bandleader Lawrence Welk. The move is expected to almost double the rooms in Marriott Vacations' Hyatt Residence Club brand.
