Sears Holdings plans to sell or auction its most profitable 505 stores, mostly in California, Florida, New York, and Puerto Rico, as the 125-year-old retailer seeks to fend off liquidation amid reports of mixed foot traffic in Sears and Kmart locations at the start of the holiday shopping season.
