Signature BioScience signed a 3-year lease extension of its existing 40,000 square feet of laboratory and office space at the Western Research Campus, Building 196, at 1240 S. 47th St. in Richmond, CA. Building 196 is a 3-story, 60,000-square-foot R&D facility with heavy power. The campus is between the San Francisco shoreline and Interstate 580 at the southern end of Richmond at the Bayview interchange. Total consideration for the deal was undisclosed. Signature BioScience is a detection-based drug discovery company committed to efficiently delivering highly qualified pre-clinical leads for potential treatment of cancer and other diseases. The company employs more than 150 biologists, chemists, engineers, computer scientists and support staff in its lab and office facilities in San Francisco and Richmond. WRC includes proximity to freeways, BART, UC Berkeley, the fast-growing East Bay biotech market and offers very high quality existing biotech and chemistry lab facilities. The lease is one of the largest in the East Bay this year. Curt Setzer of Simeon Commercial Properties in San Francisco, the developer of the WRC, represented Signature and the landlord, Zeneca.
