Sometimes a change of jobs can create inconveniences in the real estate business, such as an employee’s new office being located far from an important development project.
That’s not the case with Scott Crooks.
Crooks, 54, recently joined SK Commercial Realty as chief operating officer. One big project in SKCR’s portfolio is The Henry, a luxury apartment tower in the Battery district that surrounds the Atlanta Braves’ baseball stadium. Another is the renovation of 900 Circle 75 in suburban Cobb County, Georgia.
Conveniently for Crooks, The Henry is less than a mile from his new SKCR office, which is at 900 Circle 75. In his new role and location, he reports to SKCR President Tom Kirbo and CEO Hugh Scott III.
Crooks previously worked at the Atlanta location of another commercial real estate services firm, Lee & Associates. During his 17-year stint at Lee, Crooks held the positions of chief information officer and chief financial officer.
In his new role and location, Crooks plans to leverage his experience "to help amplify SKCR’s name across the region and foster long-term growth for the company,” he said in a statement.
Scott said in a statement that Crooks will benefit from a "diverse background, extensive connections in the industry and ability to see through the lens of the owner made him the ideal candidate for our new COO role. 2023 is a crucial year for SK Commercial Realty given the significant projects we have in motion and broader fluctuations that are occurring across the commercial real estate spectrum."
The Henry and 900 Circle 75 should keep Crooks busy for months, as he’s responsible for developing a new research platform for SK’s brokers for all property types.
SKCR is developing The Henry in partnership with the Atlanta Braves and Goldenrod Cos. Construction is expected to begin this year.
SKCR’s home office building, 900 Circle 75, was built in 1984, long before the Battery commercial district opened. SKCR is directing the renovation of 900 Circle 75, which can be seen from seats inside Truist Park, the Braves’ stadium.
The 346,000 square-foot 900 Circle 75 tower is 85% leased, according to CoStar data. Other large tenants include American Tower Corp. and LX Hausys.
