Loews Hotels & Co. named Alex Tisch its new president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2023.
Jonathan Tisch, the company’s current CEO and Alex Tisch’s cousin, will become the company’s executive chairman while he remains a member of the office of the president and co-chairman of the board of Loews Corp., parent company of Loews Hotels, a New York City-based hotel brand, owner and management company, according to a news release.
"Loews Hotels & Co. has a storied reputation in the travel and tourism industry, rooted in partnerships, operational excellence and best in class team members," Alex Tisch said in the release. "My goal is to build on that reputation, leverage the owner/operator model, empower our world-class team members and create value for all stakeholders."
As president and CEO, Alex Tisch will oversee the day-to-day operations at Loews Hotels as well as the development and execution of its strategy and manage its capital and resource allocation.
Alex Tisch joined Loews Hotels in 2017, becoming president in September 2020. He was involved in the creation and execution of the company’s strategic plan over the past five years, which led to the $2.5 billion re-defined growth strategy and expansion. He created a more aligned and data-driven approach to the company’s commercial divisions and restructured the leadership within the human resources function. He also strengthened the company’s relationship with Comcast NBC Universal, with whom Loews has a joint venture in eight hotels in Orlando, Florida.
Alex Tisch oversaw several additions to the portfolio, including Live! by Loews – Arlington, Texas, in 2019; Live! by Loews – St. Louis, Missouri, in 2020; Universal's Endless Summer Resort in 2020; and Loews Kansas City in 2020. The company also has two more developments in the works: the Loews Coral Gables, opening Nov. 3, and the 888-room Loews Arlington Hotel, opening in the first quarter of 2024.
"Since joining Loews Hotels & Co., Alex has not only brought a strong strategic lens to the acquisitions and development and commercial disciplines, but also cultivated successful strategic partnerships internally and externally," Jonathan Tisch said in the release. "As we look ahead, under Alex's leadership and direction, Loews Hotels & Co. will continue to be a leader within the industry and strive to be an employer of choice amongst our team members."
