COVID-19 has paused many aspects of our lives, but it looks to have only accelerated the decline of high street retail. Consumers are increasingly shopping online, and swathes of retail space have been left unoccupied. Indeed, the acquisition of Topshop by Asos alone has left 500 shops empty, whilst the purchase of Debenhams by Boohoo signals the closure of 124 stores.
