Multifamily investors follow renters to lower-cost areas outside downtown Ottawa

Since 2019, the Ottawa suburbs within the East Central and West Ottawa submarkets have attracted more than 45% of all apartment property sales during any given year. This is expected as the two submarkets account for more than half of all apartment units in the region. Meanwhile, downtown Ottawa accounted for an average of 14% of annual apartment sales over the same period.
