Oakbrook Terrace Building Brings Home BOMA Award

The commercial real estate industry honored 14 North American commercial properties with The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Award at the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International Annual Conference held in San Francisco, California. The lone representative for the Midwest was Oakbrook Terrace Tower. The 31-story office building took home the TOBY award for the "Building of The Year" in the 500,000-1M square foot category. The building is located at 1 Tower Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Built in 1987, it consists of 773,000 square feet of rentable area. Equity Office Properties owns and manages the class A office property, which was designed by renowned architect Helmut Jahn. The TOBY winners were recognized for excellence in office building management and operations in specific categories of building size or type. Competition was fierce at the international competition level, with a total of 69 entries in 14 categories. Buildings based in the state of Texas dominated the TOBY awards, winning 4 of the 13 awards.
