Things looked bleak in Birmingham after snack maker Utz Brands announced the closure of the manufacturing facility for its Golden Flake Snack Foods division. The manufacturing facility in North Titusville closed in 2023 and since then, the 36.7-acre property and its 950,000-square-foot factory at 1 Golden Flake Drive sat empty.
