Software firm Boomi has moved into an office tower in downtown Vancouver, a district favored by Amazon, Microsoft and other technology companies.
The cloud-based software and data management company officially opened its new hub across three floors totaling nearly 54,000 square feet at the 35-storey Four Bentall Centre, a spokesperson for Los Angeles-based landlord Hudson Pacific Properties told CoStar News.
Boomi is among several tech firms, including Asana, Timber Games and Sanctuary AI, to sign office leases in Vancouver since last spring, CoStar data shows.
U.S. tech companies have long been attracted to Vancouver by Canada's flexible immigration laws and the city's highly rated universities that include the British Columbia Institute of Technology and Simon Fraser University.
Boomi, which had temporarily been occupying offices at nearby Three Bentall Centre, has now moved into its permanent space on floors 12, 14 and 16 at the 581,000-square-foot Four Bentall tower.
Companies leased just over 3.4 million square feet of office space in Vancouver last year. That's higher than the 3 million square feet leased the prior year, but well below the city's peak years of 2016 through 2018, when between 4.5 million and 5.5 million square feet were leased annually, according to CoStar analytics.
“The opening of Boomi’s Vancouver office marks a significant milestone in our continued global growth strategy and positions the company well to tap into Vancouver's highly skilled local talent,” CEO Steve Lucas said in a statement.
Boomi also recently opened a new headquarters in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, as well as offices in India, Sydney, Australia and Barcelona, Spain.
The company said it has hired 200 employees in Vancouver in recent months and plans to expand further in the city this year.
"These efforts are helping Vancouver establish itself as a top destination for global tech enterprises," Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said in the statement.
