At the risk of being hypocritical, having just very respectfully asked my boss not to sing Christmas songs in the office before Thanksgiving, it's time once again for all you good little hoteliers to send me your Christmas wish lists.
We're just over a month until the start of 2025, and I everyone is thinking about what's going to happen. That may give you some excitement. Maybe it's anxiety. Maybe it's both?
So let's go with some good thoughts here. Tell me what you're hoping for in 2025. It can be something concrete, like a new Easy-Bake Oven for your hotel kitchens, or whatever the commercial version of that is. Maybe it's something a little less tangible, like everyone having just a little more chill.
To give you some inspiration, I went back to see what hoteliers sent in last year. There was definitely a trend. Most people who responded wanted a more stable economic environment and much lower inflation. I think, to some degree, we've achieved that and even got a couple interest rate cuts along the way, too.
There were also wishes for the ability to keep attracting and retaining top talent. I imagine that's going to be a perpetual wish for hoteliers, regardless of how many smart, hardworking people the industry hires.
So, over the next few weeks, send me your wish lists. Sentence format is preferred, and please keep it to a couple hundred words at most. Let's keep it upbeat and leave out anything too political.
My email is bwroten@hotelnewsnow.com. Put "Hoteliers 2025 Wish List" in the subject line. As with last year, no anonymous wishes, please.
If I receive enough responses, I'll include them in a future piece, most likely running between Christmas and New Year's.
Here's hoping you all get to enjoy a happy Thanksgiving next week. Let's all hope for peace and joy through the rest of this year and for all years forward.
