The Line DC hotel, a boutique property in Washington, D.C.'s popular Adams Morgan neighborhood that reportedly drew the interest of billionaire businessman Elon Musk, has been sold to its lender.
Acore Capital bought the building at 1770 Euclid St. NW, according to Brian Friedman, the founder of Friedman Capital, an investor in the property. Acore didn't respond to CoStar News' email requests to comment.
The previous owner of the property was Adams Morgan Hotel, Owners LLC, according to CoStar data. The group is an affiliate of USAA, according to a regulatory filing. Sydell Group was part of the team that developed the property, CoStar data shows.
The hotel auction came in the wake of an Eater report last week that Musk considered jumping into the running for the hotel, a move that ignited a petition to stop a potential sale to him that garnered more than 2,000 signatures.
Musk has emerged as part of President Donald Trump's inner circle, and the idea of Musk buying a property in the District created a buzz in local political and hospitality circles.
Once a church, the property was built in 1913 with vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows before being renovated and opening as the now 220-room hotel in 2017, according to CoStar research.
Musk's companies, Tesla and SpaceX, didn't respond to emails from CoStar requesting a comment.
