A New York dealmaker with experience in the nonprofit sector, significant for the city, has joined JLL.
David Carlos has left Savills to become vice chairman and head of the nonprofit, education and government practice based in JLL’s Manhattan headquarters office, the brokerage firm said Monday in a statement. He also brought along to JLL two of his Savills colleagues: Andrew Dzenis joins JLL as managing director and Rekha Pednekar as an associate.
At Savills, the trio’s top-producing nonprofit practice group has been responsible for some of the most complicated and high-profile real estate transactions in New York, JLL said. It added that the trio will leverage their experience to strengthen JLL’s platform across the tri-state area.
A three-time winner of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Ingenious Deal of the Year award, Carlos is among the city’s leading leasing and sales brokers, JLL said. Most recently vice chairman of the nonprofit practice group at Savills, Carlos has worked with prominent nonprofit clients, including Weill Cornell Medicine, Jewish Theological Seminary, City University of New York, New York Public Library and KIPP Public Charter Schools, JLL said.
He also worked with major corporate players such as Kroll Bond Rating Agency, for which Carlos most recently negotiated a 95,000-square-foot relocation while subleasing the company’s vacated space, JLL said.
“The nonprofit sector is a major contributor to the city’s economy and overall financial health, employing over 18% of all workers in New York City,” Carlos said, adding that the trio is joining JLL “during a period of dislocation across the commercial real estate landscape.”
A Savills spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request from CoStar News seeking comment.
