STR: US Hotel Performance Outpaces Pre-Pandemic Levels in Last Full Week of May

U.S. hotel performance dipped slightly from the previous week, according to STR‘s latest data through May 28.

May 22-28, 2022 (percentage change from comparable week in 2019*):

  • Occupancy: 66.5% (+3.2%)
  • Average daily rate (ADR): $151.73 (+22.2%)
  • Revenue per available room (RevPAR): $100.97 (+26.2%)

Among the Top 25 Markets, Phoenix saw the highest performance increases over 2019: occupancy (+19.6% to 69.9%), ADR (+50.8% to $149.06) and RevPAR (+80.4% to $104.14).

San Francisco experienced the only double-digit occupancy decrease from 2019 (-13.7% to 69.3%). The market also reported the only RevPAR decline over 2019 (-16.5% to $141.21).

*Due to the pandemic impact, STR is measuring recovery against comparable time periods from 2019.
