Seattle-Area Unemployment Rate Falls Into Single Digits for First Time Since February

Job Growth Has Been Rapid, but Signs of Future Lockdowns Concerning

The Seattle area's unemployment rate stands at 9.7%, the first time its has been in the single digits since February. The current unemployment rate, which is similar to the rate from the beginning of the Great Recession's recovery in mid-2010, and the 61,000 jobs added in June are good signs for the Puget Sound economy, but it would not be surprising to see the rate tick up again in the near future.
