A string of move-outs in the second and third quarter in Dallas-Fort Worth's urban core is pushing multifamily vacancy rates higher to 8.9% while stabilized vacancy rates for the market are holding steady at 6.8%, driven by impressive levels of demand. Renters are looking beyond the metroplex's central business district — defined here as downtown Dallas, Uptown and downtown Fort Worth — for more budget-friendly communities found in suburban locations.
