Avanath Capital Appoints Executive Vice President
Private real estate investment manager Avanath Capital Management is expanding its executive leadership team with the appointment of a property management industry veteran.
Carly Stevenson has been named an executive vice president with the company.
In her new role, Stevenson will expand Avanath's property management division as the firm continues to acquire and manage new multifamily properties, including affordable, workforce and senior housing across the country.
Avanath is experiencing significant growth, according to Daryl Carter, founder, chairman and CEO of Avanath. So far in 2022, Avanath has acquired 15 properties totaling 3,313 units, including the 601-unit Barclays Pacific Park, which marked the firm's 100th acquisition, as well as the 669-unit Baldwin Village in Los Angeles.
Stevenson brings more than 20 years of industry experience to her new role. Before joining Avanath, she served as president of property management at Mandel Group, a multi-state multifamily property management firm based in Milwaukee, where she oversaw profitability and operations. Stevenson previously held management positions at AMLI and Waterton Residential.
"I’m one of the few people in property management who started from the ground up — it’s an accomplishment I’m proud of, and the experience I have gained is irreplaceable," said Stevenson in a corporate statement announcing her hire. "For this next step in my career, I have moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Irvine, California, Avanath’s corporate headquarters, to be as involved as possible in the firm’s endeavors."
Lougee Joins Pine Tree as President, Capital Markets
Pine Tree has hired Matt Lougee as president of its capital markets team in Northbrook, Illinois.
In his new role, Lougee will focus on capital formation and investor relations for the national real estate company.
Lougee previously served as a retail division financial officer for the Irvine Co., as an executive vice president of finance for shopping center owner Westwood Financial, and as a senior vice president of finance at DDR Corp., now Site Centers.
Throughout his career, Lougee has overseen investor relations, equity and debt capital raising, portfolio management and corporate strategy.
S2 Capital Taps Connell To Lead New Office
Private residential real estate investment firm S2 Capital has hired Patrick Connell as head of capital formation and investor relations.
In his new role, Connell will lead fundraising efforts and manage the firm's growing relationships with institutional investors globally. He will also lead the investor relations team and open the firm's new office in New York City.
Connell has raised joint venture capital across institutional, private equity, infrastructure and credit investment vehicles. He most recently served as managing director and head of capital raising at L&L Holding Co., where he oversaw $1.8 billion in joint ventures and strategic partnerships over the past four years.
Previously, Connell was principal of fundraising and investor relations at Riverstone Holdings, working with the limited partner relations team responsible for raising $15 billion in capital across several private real asset and credit funds, in addition to managing relationships with institutional investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations and family offices during his more than six years there.
Sevy Promoted to Principal at KTGY
KTGY, a full-service architecture, interior and planning firm focused on residential, retail, hospitality and mixed-use developments, has promoted Bryan Sevy to principal. He was previously an associate principal in Irvine, California.
In his expanded role, Sevy will continue to design and lead creative commercial real estate development projects throughout the region, with a focus on land development and builder processes across the for-sale and for-rent residential and mixed-use property sectors.
Sevy joined KTGY as a project designer 20 years ago, after graduating from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo with a bachelor of architecture degree. He oversees the entire life span of a development project, from conceptual planning through construction completion.
Ogden Joins Savills as Managing Director
Savills has hired Jennifer Ogden as a corporate managing director in the firm's New York City office.
In her new role, Ogden will work with the team led by Jeffrey Peck, Daniel Horowitz and Jacob Stern, and will continue to advise clients in the legal, nonprofit, startup and corporate sectors. Her client list includes Fashion Institute of Technology, Steinway Pianos, Transit Wireless, Amster Rothstein & Ebenstein, the New York Foundling, Philanthropy New York and Swann Auction Galleries.
Ogden most recently served as a senior director at Avison Young, and before that held senior roles at Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE. Before entering commercial real estate, Ogden spent a decade working in the finance sector as a banker and high-yield analyst.
Hammes Healthcare Hires Nargang as Regional VP
Steve Nargang has joined Hammes Healthcare as the Midwest regional vice president for the company, a provider of consulting and project management services to the healthcare industry. He is based in the firm's headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Nargang brings more than 25 years of healthcare project experience, most recently as a shareholder and principal at TLC Engineering Solutions, a national engineering firm with more than 450 professionals, where he led the firm's growth and project development in the Midwest.
Nargang is a licensed professional engineer with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. He is the vice president of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals' Chicago chapter and is a member of the American Society of Health Care Engineering and Lean Construction Institute Chicago.
St. John Properties Promotes Pair
St. John Properties in Baltimore promoted Mike Jones to project manager and Ellen Quinn to manager of administration in the company's in-house interior construction division.
Jones has been with the company since 2016 and previously served as superintendent of interior construction and as a building engineer with the property management team. In his expanded role, Jones will manage the build-out process for new or expanding tenants in the company's Maryland portfolio, including overseeing construction timelines, third-party contractors, budgeting and completion of tenant improvements.
Quinn was formerly the interior construction coordinator after rejoining the firm in 2019. In her expanded role, Quinn will support the firm's project management team and act as liaison with tenants during the construction build-out process, including communicating with architects and engineers to obtain necessary permits and approvals, scheduling, tracking and various other administrative functions.
Ware Malcomb Elevates Studio Manager, Branding
International design firm Ware Malcomb has promoted Lyz Ward to branding studio manager in the firm's New York City office.
In her expanded role, Ward will oversee the branding studio, which is responsible for connecting people to places and building brand identity for occupiers. She will also manage select projects in the Northeast region.
Ward joined Ware Malcomb in 2019 as a senior project designer and led the strategic design solutions and management of key projects and client accounts in the real estate, telecommunications, finance and entertainment sectors. She has more than 20 years of environmental graphic design experience, and has been a guest lecturer and critic at Adelphi University and the Pratt Institute.
