Located within walking distance of downtown Vancouver, Railtown is an area with a long and storied history of commerce dating back to when the area served as trading market for local First Nations groups before Hastings Mill and the lumber industry arrived and the subsequent trade from the gold rush. These business eras established Railtown, bisected by the railway and serviced by a port by the late 1800s, as the primary industrial area in Vancouver.
