Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced Thursday that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into an exclusive collaboration agreement with German hospitality company Lindner Hotels AG, which will expand Hyatt's European portfolio, according to a news release.

More than 30 hotels across seven European countries are expected to join the Hyatt brand portfolio through this deal, and they will eventually integrate into the World of Hyatt loyalty program.

Most of the properties will transition to the JdV by Hyatt brand, which is a collection of independent hotels. The JdV brand became a part of Hyatt when Hyatt purchased Two Roads Hospitality in 2018 for $405 million. Two Roads was previously owned by Lowe and Geolo Capital, private investment firm owned by the family of John A. Pritzker, whose father, Jay Pritzker, founded Hyatt.

As of June 30, Hyatt had 1,194 hotels and 290,987 rooms in its global portfolio. The JdV by Hyatt brand had 23 hotels and 3,320 rooms.

The agreement with Lindner Hotels AG will widen Hyatt's brand footprint to 15 new markets and expand distribution in German cities such as Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Hamburg. Hyatt's lifestyle portfolio in Germany is expected to grow to 5,500 rooms.

“The addition of Lindner’s desirable hotel portfolio will substantially grow Hyatt’s brand footprint in Germany and bring our guests and ultimately our World of Hyatt members to a variety of new destinations across Europe including Kiel, Leipzig, Sylt, Bratislava and Interlaken," Mark Hoplamazian, president and CEO of Hyatt, said in the news release. "We are grateful for the trust the Lindner team is placing in us and are excited to strengthen our collective guest offering through strategic capital investments being made by Lindner into the portfolio.”

Arno Schwalie, chief executive officer, Lindner, said in the release: "This type of collaboration is truly unique in the German market. As part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, Lindner remains a strong brand with its own identity and corporate independence, now aided by the power of Hyatt’s global brand awareness and first-class sales and marketing capabilities.”
