Limited Retail Completions, Strong Demand Aids in Recent Compression

Strong demand paired with limited new supply has pushed retail vacancies across Houston to near 7-year lows. As of the first quarter, the market’s vacancy rate stands at 5%. In Southwest Houston, the trend of compressing vacancies has been even more pronounced and, at 3.5%, stands at the lowest level since CoStar began tracking data in 2006.
