MGM Resorts and Marriott International have signed "an exclusive long-term strategic licensing agreement" that adds 17 MGM properties to Marriott's booking platforms and provides new benefits to members of their two loyalty programs.

The deal includes the creation of the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy and adding more than 40,000 rooms in Las Vegas and elsewhere to Marriott's channels starting in October. Four other MGM hotels are set to be a part of Marriott collection brands — the Bellagio Resort & Casino joining The Luxury Collection, ARIA Resort & Casino joining the Autograph Collection and Park MGM joining the Tribute Portfolio, while The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will remain in the Autograph Collection.

The eight Las Vegas resorts joining the new MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy are: Vdara Hotel & Spa, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, NoMad Las Vegas, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Luxor Hotel and Casino, and Excalibur Hotel & Casino. The five properties outside of Las Vegas are Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey; Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi; MGM Grand Detroit in Michigan; MGM National Harbor in Maryland; and MGM Springfield in Massachusetts.

The deal also promises reciprocal benefits for members of both BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy, allowing members to link accounts, earn and exchange points on both platforms and open up access to new experiences.

“We look forward to increasing our global rooms distribution by 2.4% as we grow our presence on the Las Vegas Strip and in other compelling destinations across the U.S.,” Marriott President and CEO Anthony Capuano said in a news release announcing the deal.

MGM Resorts President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle said the deal sprung out of the success of the Cosmopolitan.

"We’ve seen first-hand the strong demand from Marriott International customers through our existing relationship at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and this new agreement will enable us to further optimize our overall profitability," he said. "We’re thrilled to now scale the relationship and offer Marriott Bonvoy members greater distribution access to our award-winning resorts — as well as exclusive event and entertainment opportunities — in Las Vegas and across the U.S.”
