A.P. Construction Co. Executive Vice President Tom Walsh has been awarded the David N. LaBau Lifetime Recognition award from the Construction Institute to honor a career that spanned more than 40 years in the building business.

Over the decades, Walsh has led numerous and varied construction projects, including high-tech semiconductor and pharmaceutical research facilities, high-rise office buildings and heavy industrial projects. Walsh’s work has played a significant role in the completion of notable buildings such as Chelsea Piers Connecticut, the University of Connecticut Downtown Stamford Building and the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building Complex in Oakland, California.

Walsh’s “strategic insights at A.P. Construction Company have been pivotal in driving innovation and adding value to the industry,” said Nancy Greenwald, executive director at the Construction Institute, in a statement. “Tom’s impressive educational background and dedication to progress in his field exemplify the esteemed career that the David N. LaBau Lifetime Recognition Award acknowledges.”

The recognition, given at this month's Construction Institute Annual Dinner and Awards, was the 14th time the institute has honored a recipient in its 49-year history. Walsh was celebrated alongside Laura Cruickshank of the University of Connecticut for her leadership in shaping higher education in the state.
